# Ribbon Blender Design Calculations

Let’s talk about ribbon blender design calculations in today’s blog.

What does one mixing quantity mean?

Determine whether Tops Group mixer satisfies the needs of the customer first, and then choose the best model for them. The material to be mixed by the client and the quantity to be mixed at once are the determining factors. The necessary volume of the mixing tank is calculated by dividing the weight of the material that needs to be mixed by its density. It is necessary to ascertain the specific gravity of various common products. For example, the specific gravity of wheat is 0.6 g/cm3, that of milk powder is 0.5 g/cm3, and that of protein powder is around 0.45 g/cm3. For instance, the TDPM1000 model should be chosen if the client wants to mix protein powder 300 kilograms at a time. Since protein powder has a specific gravity of 0.45, 300 kg equals approximately 667 liters. The effective mixing volume of the mixer—rather than the total amount—is referred to by all model designations.

Our ribbon mixer’s effective mixing volume is 80% of its whole volume, and its ideal mixing effect ranges from 40% to 70% of its total volume. The optimal mixing effect won’t be obtained if the minimum mixing quantity is less than 40% of the entire volume.
